How drunk sanity was when love struck

Promises made that were never kept

driven into what we foresaw,just never believed

promises we never kept

over again and again "over"

failed and dismissed

when love blinded the ever prevailing truth

I never could have stopped the heartache

prevented the inevitable

stealing happiness that was never my own

that never was meant to last



I should have called upon my better judgement

my knowledge of what was best

my heart begged, pleading....

"Dont walk down this road again

dont trust me, i will fail you..

dont intoxicate me

dont play that note

dont blindfold me with yet another memory

dont break me am already broken...."



Calling the time of death...

leaping into an ancient pit

old as the days of lore

I smile and laugh, ridiculing this nonsense

"Not a memory this time my heart

He will last

He will protect you

Oh, My poor heart, what do you know?"



Deaf, blind, sweet were the days he neared

the hours he was close;

infront of me, defying laws of reality

touching him, believing...

He was what defied and proved my heart wrong....



Drunk sanity, I open the door

I choose the nearing death of the heart

once proclaiming its life, now infront of me , motionless..

paralyzed

in amazement i stare...

slow decaying hours as they prey upon this heart

I stare still,in disbelief...

I stare still with innocence to a crime i am pleaded guilt

frozen becomes the hours when you witness a crime

when your the prime and only suspect

you desperately wish you could reverse time

to stop...to listen

but only guilt remains...

you stare as he departs; holding your heart

like a reaper in the dark shadows, masked with fear

Any final words , he says, victoriously

staring at my awe-struck face

I look back, silent

But he is far away, its gone...

what do I say ,in my defense?

I loved again and once for the last time

A deja vu , foreseen yet ever silenced

I apologize

I am sorry

its too late
